What is Bio-Compost?

BIO COMPOST is prepared by mixing the nutrient rich press mud which is a by-product of sugar mills with Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium rich spent wash obtained from Distillery unit, using a state of the art composting technology. This humus rich organic manure is manufactured by aerobic solid state fermentation process catalyzed by a special purpose microbial compost starter culture. In this process, decomposing beneficial bacteria and aero booster are engaged for proper and better decomposition of the mixture.

The byproducts of sugar mill + distillery comprising of press mud and spent wash which have individually the following characteristics are used as raw materials for composting

Press Mud
N - 1.15% to 3.0%
P-0.60% to 3.50%
K-030% to 1.80%

Spent wash
N - 2630 mg/l
P-201 mg/lt.
K-222 mg k/l.

This manure has been well received by the progressive members of the farming community in different parts of the country.

This organic manure production technology is an ISO 9001:2000 certified process and the manure has been certified as “ORGANIC INPUT” by SKAL INTERNATIONAL, Netherlands (accredited by APEDA, Government of India) as it confirms to European norms for pesticide residues and heavy metals prescribed for organic products.

Advantages of Bio Compost

  1. It provides a full complement of nutritional nourishment and improving soil health for sustainable growth of crop plants.
  2. It provides all the essential macro and micronutrients such as Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potash, Sulphur, Calcium, Magnesium, Iron, Molybdenum, Copper, Zinc etc. with high organic content and microbial activity.
  3. The continuous microbial activity enriches the organic manure and also provides biological control of fungal diseases, nematodes and other soil borne diseases.
  4. It enhances the enzymatic activity of the plant, giving rise to increase chlorophyll synthesis, resulting in higher productivity and quality of the fruit.
  5. The nature's "Built-in" components help to meet the necessary requirements of soil amendments in case of problematic soils, including saline lands.
  6. The various de-oiled cakes help to increase the biochemical contents, improve soil fertility and porosity and also provide biological control of diseases.
  7. Unlike chemical fertilizers, this organic fertilizer remains in the root-zone for a longer period, thus providing effective nutrition availability to the crops.
  8. Humus rich, very slow release of nutrients which is essential for crop growth.
  9. Increases water holding capacity of soil.
  10. It is non-pathogenic.
  11. Humus provides slow release of all the nutrients which is essential for crops. It absorbs the nutrient elements from leaching and thus nutrients are utilized efficiently.
